“Nothing great ever came from playing it safe”
Back Story
Before joining Tandem, I worked at JPMorgan in New York City. I’ve always been deeply interested in both public and private market investing—specifically in analyzing financials and uncovering where a company is truly headed. After a few years at JPM, I realized I wanted to join a smaller, more hands-on firm focused on early-stage investing—where I could apply my finance and strategy background to help founders scale from idea to a disruptive product.
With a desire to return to Utah and plug back into its growing tech ecosystem, I connected with Tandem. What drew me in was the opportunity to work alongside highly skilled operators who’ve built and scaled companies before—people who’ve done it, now investing in those doing it. Prior to JPM, I earned a B.S. in Finance from Utah State University’s Huntsman School of Business.
On the look out for
I’m most excited by meeting founders who have a chip on their shoulder and are fully committed to proving themselves right. I love walking away from a meeting thinking, “This could be a big a market, but the product doesn’t totally make sense—yet.” That’s often a sign there’s something unique or contrarian worth digging into. A great product matters, but so does a clear understanding of your financial drivers and how they shape the business. Both are critical to building something enduring. When I see a founder who gets both, I want in.
